loja

Brand “loja” represents a farm built and cared for by one family on the outskirts of Mazsalaca. This strong, many-branched farm has been growing hemp for many years to obtain hemp seeds for consumption and to reproduce the seed material of the local hemp variety “Adzelvieši”. Various nutrient-rich hemp products are made from the home-grown hemp seeds. The farm is also actively involved in scientific projects related to the cultivation and processing of hemp.

Kussh Brewery

Kussh Brewery is an independent brewery in Sigulda, which launched its operation at the beginning of 2020. Sigulda is well known and famous for its natural beauty, therefore nature is the theme that also resonates well in this company. It produces a variety of ale-type beers, with an emphasis on nature and natural ingredients. The brewery has recently created its first hemp beer from the finola variety of hemp, and they see it as Latvian hops. All their brewery by-products are processed into products of high added value, which reduces the negative impact on nature.

Lapka Hemp

Lapka Hemp has found its home in the small town of Kurzeme – in Aizpute. The life of the founders of this company is related to hemp, peace and green thinking, and as a result of their love for hemp they grow and produce their own fermented hemp leaf tea. In producing the tea, the company uses processing methods of Oriental culture, thus giving the tea a new aroma and taste. Hemp tea has a light, golden
flavour of a hay barn with a pronounced amber hue, which will take you back to the carefree times of childhood.

HEMP INNOVATION CHALLENGE - Dream it.

The Hemp Innovation Challenge™ is pleased to support Ernest Plumins and his Latvian Hemp Union (LHU). The LHU's creative focus on the many uses of hemp, the desire to enhance Latvia's hemp laws, and the passion to make a difference using hemp all help to move the industry forward in Latvia.

The Hemp Innovation Challenge™ is an innovation competition designed to accelerate the future of the hemp industry by supporting entrepreneurs, researchers and students who are launching the most disruptive hemp innovations. It was launched in 2020 at the World Ag Expo®. Prizes were awarded for ideas connected to technology, software, and services driving growth and innovation into food, fuel, medicine, health, fiber, waste, and sustainable development. Submissions will be open again soon to for-profits, non-profits, and early stage concepts or impact projects including those aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Winners will receive strategic feedback about their innovation, business model, and go-to-market strategy. Participants will network with C-level executives, investors, and get mentorship to support launching their innovations.

At the inaugural 2020 competition, the Baltic Hemp Coop idea was a finalist in the 2020 competition. More about last year's competition is here.
